get a crick in my neck

I got a crick in my neck last Thursday. My neck has hurt for a week. Yoga must complicate the situation. I had a stiff neck very much. So I went to see a doctor to the university hospital near my home. I had an X-ray two straight days. The doctor said my neck was bent and I should undergo MRI testing. I wonder why X-ray and MRI is needed everytime. I wish my medical information could just be shared by all hospitals.
